The UCRS participates with the Boy Scouts of America through the Railroading Merit Badge Classes.
The Upper Cumberland Railroad Society (UCRS) is our Educational and Historical entity. The society is responsible for the Historical and Museum displays at the Mall Suite, and the education of the public in all aspects of local Tennessee and surrounding railroads. The UCRS also conducts various classes for the public, including classes leading to the award of the 'Railroad Merit Badge' in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America (see sidebar at left).
The UCRS holds classes most years on Model Railroading. These classes are part of our 'How To Develop and Build a Model Railroad' Educational Series. The classes are held in our Education Room at the rear of the CMRC displays. Class attendees must be pre-registered and there is a maximum of 10-12 available seats for each class. You must pre-register at the front desk of our display during operational hours, or by E-Mail to either of the contacts listed to the left. Classes are subject to cancellation, postponement, or rescheduling due to adverse weather, low pre-registrations, or other unforeseen circumstances. We will attempt to notify registrants and post changes as soon as we can, should these cases occur.
